One of my biggest regrets freshman year was not leaving my comfort zone more. I often pushed myself too much physically and mentally. Ultimately, this caused me to feel as though I almost wasted my first year.
Luckily, the new year calls for a new school year, thus a new beginning. My roommate invited me to spend my Saturday night at Steel City Sapna, a premier showcase of fusion and a capella teams. There, she was a dancer in Sahara, one of CMU’s two fusion teams. Prior, I had never seen anything quite like this, so I didn’t know what to expect. The moment the teams got on the stage, however, I was immediately blown away.
Unsurprisingly, CMU Sahara placed (2nd!)
The next day, a friend from The Tartan, Evangeline Liu, (who is such a talented photographer as you will see in the next three pictures) and I decided to visit the Pittsburgh Women’s Sister March. Seeing so many people across the political spectrum united was fantastic, and there were many clever posters in the crowd.
…and of course, I had to show off how well my poster complemented my boots (and vice versa!).
All in all, I had a demanding weekend, but I learned to better take care of myself so I can enjoy time with friends and enjoy the semester more. School can be demanding, but it’s important to keep that work-life balance. May 2018 be the year we find it!
